Project Details

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) will begin an $8.3 million construction project in April 2023 to resurface and improve a 4.5-mile section of U.S. 98 in Walton County, from east of State Road 83 (U.S. 331) to Peach Creek.

The project will also include:

*Shoulder widening.

*Constructing a westbound right-turn lane at Blakely Drew Boulevard.

*Drainage enhancements.

*Signalization improvements.

*New signage and pavement markings.

During construction, drivers may encounter temporary traffic shifts and intermittent, alternating lane closures between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. Sunday through Thursday nights. No lane closures will be scheduled during holidays or special events. Access to business and other private properties will be maintained at all times.

The project is estimated for completion in November 2023.

All activities are weather-dependent and may be delayed or rescheduled in the event of inclement weather. Drivers are reminded to use caution, especially at night, when traveling through a work zone and to watch for construction workers and equipment entering and exiting the roadway.

Note: All information is preliminary and subject to change without notice.
