Project Details

Crews will begin construction activities on a $6.2 million resurfacing project on State Road 20 (John Sims Parkway) from Edge Avenue to west of Rocky Bayou Bridge in Okaloosa County the week of Monday, Feb. 7.

The 2.6-mile project also includes the following improvements:

• Constructing a grassed median west of Palm Boulevard.

• Widening the roadway in key locations to extend or widen existing turn lanes to improve traffic flow.

• Constructing a new sidewalk on the north side of S.R. 20, from the Oak Creek Shopping Center to Rocky Bayou Drive.

During construction, drivers may encounter intermittent and alternating lane closures between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. Sunday through Thursday nights. There will be no lane closures during Niceville High School home football games or other special school events. The project is estimated for completion in early 2023.

All construction activities are weather-dependent and may be delayed or rescheduled in the event of inclement weather.

Note: All information is preliminary and subject to change without notice.
