Project Details

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) has kicked off a Project Development & Environment (PD&E) Study for SR 297 (Pine Forest Road) from south of SR 8 (I-10) to north of SR 10 (US 90A/Nine Mile Road) and CR 297 (Pine Forest Road) from SR 10 (US 90A/Nine Mile Road) to north of CR 297A in Escambia County, a distance of approximately 1.7 miles (see study area map on the right).

This corridor provides an important north-south route in western Escambia County. Additionally, it connects Naval Air Station (NAS) Pensacola with I-10. Large amounts of residential and future business development is planned for the area as part of the Escambia County PROJECT LOCATION MAP Optional Sector Plan.

This planned development is anticipated to increase the need for capacity improvements on Pine Forest Road. In an effort to improve mobility and enhance safety within the corridor, alternatives will be developed and examined; including options for widening and adding features such as bike lanes, sidewalks, and shared use paths.

Note: All information is preliminary and subject to change without notice.
