Project Details

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is conducting a Project Development Environment (PDE) Study for Pine Forest Road from south of SR 8 (I-10) to north of CR 297A in Escambia County, a distance of approximately 1.36 miles.The purpose of this project is to address future vehicular capacity and safety issues on Pine Forest Road. Enhancing these facilities will help to provide additional capacity on this important North-South route in western Escambia County, Florida.Improvements along Pine Forest Road include widening to six lanes from Pine Forest Drive to south of I-10. North of I-10, Pine Forest Road will be widened to four lanes. Curb and gutter will be installed, along with a 10-foot shared use path and a 6-foot sidewalk.Chellie Road will be widened to 11-foot lanes with curb and gutter. Pine Forest Drive will be extended to the west to connect to Chellie Road and will follow the same typical section.Additional improvements include the installation of a signalized intersection at Pine Forest Drive, signalized median U-turns along Nine Mile Road, and construction of a roundabout at CR 297A.This project also includes FPID 441056-3.
