Project Details

The principal intent of this project is to replace the existing functionally obsolete bridge (No. 480018) on SR 97 over Sandy Hollow Creek in Escambia County, Florida south of Atmore, Alabama. At the project location, the existing roadway typical section consists of two 12' lanes and 12' shoulders (5' paved). The existing bridge typical section consists of two 12' lanes and barrier rail (24' clear roadway width). The existing capacity (2 lanes) will remain the same for the new bridge. The posted speed limit on SR 97 is 55 mph within the project limits.

Traffic Impacts

Motorists are urged to slow down to the posted 45 mph speed limit and use caution when approaching the temporary bridge.

Drivers should use caution and watch for construction workers and equipment entering and exiting the work area.

There will be weight restrictions on the temporary bridge. Vehicles weighing over 88,0 0 0 pounds and cranes will be prohibited
