The purpose and need of this study was to evaluate capacity improvements on Thomasville Road through roadway widening, new facilities on new alignments and improvements to the existing network throughout Northeast Tallahassee. The project limits included SR 61/ US 319 (Thomasville Road) from Metropolitan Boulevard to Bannerman Road/Bradfordville Road, approximately 5 miles, and SR 261 (Capital Circle Northeast) from Raymond Diehl Road to SR 61/US 319, approximately 0.5 miles. The limits also extend to the east approximately 5 miles to include the critical connections of future Welaunee development and planned roadway network.
Preferred “Build’ Concept:
The Refine Build Alternative would extend Eastbound I-10 auxiliary lane from US 27 to SR 61, provide additional queue storage lane along ramp (3 lanes total), provide additional at-grade through lane from eastbound I-10 off-ramp to Raymond Diehl Road, and provide additional eastbound right turn lane at intersection of Raymond Diehl Road and SR 261 (Capital Circle NE).
