This design/build bridge project over Choctawhatchee Bay began in January 2014 to construct a new US 331 bridge across Choctawhatchee Bay and has now been completed. The $118.5 million bridge was built immediately east of the current Clyde B. Wells Bridge and features two northbound travel lanes with accompanying shoulders. The existing structure is now being used exclusively for two lanes of southbound traffic. In addition to the new bridge, a dedicated park and recreation area were built beneath the southern approach. New ramps from US 331 provide access to the park. The facility provides a panoramic vista of Choctawhatchee Bay along with ample parking, a boat launch, space for fishermen, public restrooms and a covered picnic area.
All lanes are open with no impacts to traffic.
