SR 87 Reconstruction Project - Segment 7

Project Details

This is a reconstruction project on SR 87 which includes adding lanes from 2 miles south of Yellow River Bridge to CR 184 (Hickory Hammock Road). The project will widen this segment of SR 87 from 2 to 4 travel lanes and construct a new bridge across the Yellow River. Other additions include: resurfacing the existing travel lanes, new roadway striping, signage improvements, stormwater retention ponds and drainage upgrades. In addition, the boat ramp, parking and trailhead at Garner's Landing (on the southeast side of the river) will be closed to accommodate construction of the new bridge landing beginning in January 2016. A list of alternate public boat ramps in the area are available online at

Traffic Impacts

Construction activities are weather dependent and might be delayed or rescheduled in the event of inclement weather. Motorists are reminded to use caution and to watch for heavy equipment and construction workers entering and exiting the roadway.

Oversize Load Restriction - NO LOADS WIDER THAN 11 FT. (Restriction is for Narrow Bridge at Yellow River)
