Project Details
FDOT has awarded two construction contracts totaling $46 million to improve Nine Mile Road. Due to specific project requirements, the construction along Nine Mile Road has been divided into three segments, which will be referred to as the “project corridor.”
Improvements along the project corridor include: (1) Widening Nine Mile Road from two to four lanes between Beulah Road and US 29. (2) Constructing a new bridge over Eleven Mile Creek. (3) Constructing new sidewalks and stormwater retention ponds. (4) Signalization improvements. (5) Drainage upgrades. (6) Adding buffered bike lanes.
The planned construction work will enhance safety, improve mobility, and reduce congestion for the estimated 19,000 drivers who travel the roadway daily. In addition, the improvements underway support future economic development opportunities for Escambia County and Northwest Florida.
Traffic Impacts
Construction activities are weather dependent and may be rescheduled in the event of inclement weather.
